Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A Lexington man was charged with attempted murder after stabbing a male victim at a residence last week.

Officers first were notified of a 911 call advising Alexander D. Yancey, 57, had entered a home in the Canter Lane area of Rockbridge County and had threatened the caller with a knife.

Before deputies arrived, they received an update from the caller that Yancey had allegedly stabbed another individual in the home and then fled the scene.

Upon their arrival, officers were able to find Yancey’s vehicle in the immediate area of the caller’s neighborhood, where he was arrested.

Yancey was believed by authorities to have gone to the complainant’s home with intent to kill the two individuals, resulting in two charges of attempted first degree murder, as well as malicious wounding and breaking and entering with a deadly weapon.
