Leroy Watts, 93, of Lexington died July 29

Leroy Watts of Lexington departed this life at age 93 Thursday, July 29, 2021, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Leroy was born June 1, 1928, in Lexington to the late Andrew and Rose Watts.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi R. Watts; son, Theodore T. Watts; and daughter, Rosa W. Haston. 

He leaves to cherish his memories the last sibling of nine children, his brother, Francis (Pickle) Watts; two daughters, Laura W. Davis (Ken), and Alice T Watts; his lady friend Grace Every; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Leroy proudly served in the Army during the Korean War; he earned two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Leroy worked for over 40 years at VMI and the Rockbridge County Courthouse. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and love to build and repair things.  He loved to fish and taught many of his grandchildren to fish. He was a sports fan and loved the Washington Redskins.

Leroy enjoyed life and lived his 93 years to the fullest and made them count. He was a faithful lifelong member of Randolph Street United Methodist Church. He loved his God, his Church and his family; he would always say, “God Loves You and So Do I.” He was a humble man with lots of wisdom. He was a friend to everyone and he will be deeply missed, always loved and never forgotten.

Family night will be held at Harrison’s Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. His service will be at Randolph Street United Methodist Church on Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests that you wear masks if you are able.

In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations be made to Randolph Street United Methodist Church, 118 S. Randolph St., Lexington, VA 24450.
