Joseph Eugene Houser III, 71, of Waynesboro died Sunday, May 17, 2020, in the Shenandoah Hospice House.

Born Nov. 21, 1948, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Joseph Eugene Houser Jr. and Marie Lee Houser.

He was co-owner and operator of Joe’s Transmissions in Arizona. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 as a helicopter mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Veronica Manspile Houser (Joe’s dedicated caregiver); stepdaughter, Wendy Simpson and husband; sister, Janice Anne Howard; two brothers, Edward Lee Houser and Ronald George Houser; and two step- grandsons, Terry Lee Simpson and Xavier Logan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Heck of the Shenandoah Nursing & Rehab and the Shenandoah House for all their loving care.

A private graveside service will be at Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 355 Rio Road West, Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
