Jingle Bell 5K Goes Virtual

The eighth annual Main Street Lexington Jingle Bell 5-kilometer run/walk will be a virtual event this year. Participants can create their own 5K course and complete it any time during the month of December.

The in-person race was canceled due to the coronavirus, but runners and walkers are encouraged to sign up at www. mainstreetlexington.org/jinglebellrun.html any time until Dec. 31. This year’s race will be a fundraiser for both Main Street Lexington and the Walker Entrepreneurship Program, which is a community initiative to establish and support new businesses owned and operated by people of color in Lexington and Rockbridge County. From funds raised, 25 percent will go to the Walker Program.

The entry fee is $15 per person, and the first 100 entries will get swag bags with socks. All entries are eligible to win a grand prize $100 Main Street Lexington gift certificate. Each registered participant is entered into a weekly raffle. Participants will get extra chances to win by posting photos of themselves running or walking in their most festive gear, using the hashtag #JingleBellRun2020.
