House Fire Victim Identified

The name of the victim in last Saturday’s house fire in the South River area has been released by the Virginia State Police.

Alexander Teasley, 36, died in the morning fire at 6853 South River Road, just south of Vesuvius. Two other people at the house were transported to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kevin Moore, Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue captain, said the preliminary report from the state fire investigator showed that the fire was accidental, starting as a chimney fire. Considerable damage was done to the house.
