In conjunction with National Volunteer Appreciation Week, an appreciation luncheon was held on April 11 in honor of Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital’s volunteer group.

J.T. Clark, regional hospital coordination center manager for the Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance, and author of the book “In the Blink of an Eye,” was guest speaker.  Clark’s book is being made into a soon-to-be-released movie.

Retiring this year after 22 years of service is Patti Roscoe.  She became a volunteer in February of 1997.  Her kind heart and beautiful smile were an integral part of the hospital’s volunteer group, said a spokeswoman.

Hour pins and certificates were presented by Dee Fix, director of facilities management at the hospital.  Special recognition was given to Stanley Sensabaugh, who had the most volunteer hours for the 2017-18 year with 1,868.  The hospital currently has 37 volunteers comprised of adults, college students and teens.
