Holman Murder Trial Moved To Spring

Charles Holman, who is charged with the April 2019 murder of Buena Vista resident Christina Martin, is due in court April 2021, following a postponement in his trial.

Holman was indicted on 10 charges related to Martin’s murder in November of 2019.

A seven-day jury trial was set to take place starting Monday, Nov. 16. Due to an executive order by the Supreme Court of Virginia in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a judicial state of emergency announced in March was extended through Dec. 13, impacting many jury trial proceedings.

Holman is now set to stand trial for 10 days beginning April 19, 2021. He faces charges of firstdegree murder, malicious wounding, abduction, use of a firearm while committing murder, use of a firearm while committing abduction, use of a firearm while committing burglary, statutory burglary of a dwelling with the intent to commit a felony while armed with a deadly weapon, grand larceny auto theft and violent felon in possession of a firearm. Holman’s charge of murder in the second degree was dropped Oct. 27.
