Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

Worship services at High Bridge Presbyterian Church continue each Sunday with adult Sunday school class beginning at 9:45 a.m. in the upstairs fellowship hall and all other classes by Zoom and worship service follows at 11 a.m. All safety issues still continue with wearing of masks and social distancing and hand sanitizer stations are in place.

On Sunday, Nov. 29, High Bridge will receive the Fifth Sunday Offering for our missionary, the Rev. Paul Sydnor, who serves in Turkey and we begin the Advent season and a congregational meeting during worship to elect elders and deacons class of 2023.

On Sunday, Dec. 6, High Bridge will attempt again to have the confirmation of several young people which was canceled Easter Sunday due to COVID-19. Plans are still being worked out to keep this service in accordance with Peaks Presbytery COVID-19 rules as well as our governor. That same day, our director of children’s ministry, Donna Lotts, is making plans for the children’s Christmas activity which is a drivethru Christmas program. There will be more about this next week.

High Bridge was saddened to learn of the passing of our member Bonnie Slough Reed on Saturday, Nov. 21, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie was a faithful member of our church in many ways by serving as an officer in the Presbyterian Women, singing in the choir, attending our Presbyterian Women circle meetings and always ready to help in whatever way she could.

Our community was saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Dill on Sunday, Nov. 15. Bill was a faithful member of so many organizations in this community as well as taking part in all church, prayer groups, club activities, Weekday Religious Education annual Songfest and so many other activities important to this community. Our sympathy is extended to his family.

Boyd and Linda Walker, Casey Dudley and Esther Pennington recently attended the country Christmas dinner show at the Wohlfahrt Haus in Wytheville.
