High Bridge Presbyterian Church has created a Reopening Task Force and it gathered for its first meeting this past Saturday. Jason White has agreed to serve as the task force chair and other members include Spencer Suter, David Tolley, Kathy Gilbert, Donna Lotts, Andy Jay, and Pastor Jason Grimes. We will report this committee’s progress in the near future. Plans are underway to reopen our church services in the near future.

Beth Horon United Methodist church is also making plans to reopen in the near future and this reporter will give updates as they make definite plans.

High Bridge has announced its recent college graduates,

Sarah Vest, daughter of Sammy and Tish Vest, is graduating from Virginia Tech with a bachelor of science in animal and poultry sciences and a minor in agribusiness management and entrepreneurship. She graduated summa cum laude and was selected Outstanding Senior for the animal science department. Sarah will go on to earn a master’s degree in agricultural education and extension.

Colin Whitmore, son of David Whitmore, is graduating from Washington and Lee University with a bachelor of arts in journalism and a minor in history. Many of you heard Colin on the radio last fall as the main commentator for local football games. Colin has also written articles for The News-Gazette.

Also Jeff and Tam Tolley are pleased to announce the graduation of their son, David Tolley, from Virginia Military Institute. David earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering.

The Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department is having a pork barbecue dinner Saturday, May 23, beginning at 11 a.m. Dinners are carryout only and cost $8. Plans are to have a drive-thru to purchase and pick up your dinners. Each dinner consists of barbecue, slaw and pound cake.

The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry distribution day will be Thursday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This pantry continues to serve the public, and safety precautions will be taken by the volunteers when dealing with the public.
