On Oct. 6, RARA, a Blue Ridge Area Food Bank partner pantry, received 42 cases of food through the Food Lion Feeds initiative Great Pantry Makeover Restock. Items included peanut butter, canned vegetables, beans, pasta, and cereal. In addition to food, RARA received eight $20 gift cards to spend at Food Lion stores. The cards can help provide 640 meals. The food supplies have come at a critical time, said a food bank spokesman. The pandemic-driven recession and widespread unemployment have contributed to increased demands for food assistance.
