Habitat Annual Meeting Tuesday

Rockbridge Area Habitat will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. at Lexington Presbyterian Church in Brady Chapel.

Area residents interested in learning more about the work Habitat does in the community or in volunteering with Rockbridge Area Habitat are encouraged to attend.

Following opening remarks by board chair Stan Ponce, committee chairs and Executive Director Lynne Johnson will present highlights of the past year. The 2019-20 officer slate will be announced, and Helping Hand awards and Golden Hammer awards will be presented to those who made notable contributions to the affiliate in 2018-19.

The affiliate has volunteer opportunities at the build site at Greenhouse Village, both the Buena Vista and Lexington ReStores and on periodic home repair projects. Volunteers are also invited to share their expertise by serving on several operational committees: Building/ Lands, Community Relations (including Faith Relations, Special Events and Civic Relations), Family Partnership, ReStores and Finance. Call the RAHfH office at 463-3770 for more information about volunteering.

Since 1989, Rockbridge Area Habitat has been providing affordable housing solutions for low-income families in Rockbridge County. They will finish their 75th house in 2019. Its home repair program has provided essential repairs for more than 44 local low-income homeowners since 2010 to make their homes accessible, energy efficient, and safe.
