GREG LYNN

N-G

Gregory Sullivan Lynn, 71, passed away on Aug. 14, 2022. Greg, a life-long resident of Buena Vista, was surrounded by his family as he gently slipped into the arms of Jesus.

He was the son of Ike and Mildred Lynn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Nathaniel Gregory Hughes, and a sister, Sandra Lynn.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deborah Ogden Lynn, as well as his daughter Michelle Hughes (Michael), son Craig Lynn, and grandson Joshua Lawrence Hughes. He is also survived by his siblings, Paula Irvine and Paul Lynn and many nieces and nephews.

Greg was a fun-loving individual who enjoyed laughter and playing practical jokes on others. He was a man who quietly offered assistance to others in need, always carefully staying anonymous. Greg and Deborah’s spirit of charity and stewardship left a lasting impression on their children and grandchildren, who will strive to continue celebrating Matthew 25:40: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my Brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

We know that he has joined his beloved Nathan under “Nate’s tree,” and that they are celebrating being freed from the disabilities that impeded so many things in their earthly journeys. They are likely sitting together, singing praises to our Lord.

In lieu of flowers, Greg wanted donations to be made to the Nathaniel G. Hughes Memorial Scholarship to honor his beloved grandson, and to ensure that others with disabilities have highly qualified teachers and caregivers. Donations can be sent to DePaul Community Resources, ATTN: Ryan Long, N. Hughes Scholarship; 4859 Waterlick Road; Forest, VA 24551. Please note on your check that it is for the Hughes Scholarship Fund.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
