I pray that everyone is doing well, although I know there is so much illness and loss of loved ones. Not everyone was able to celebrate Christmas with loved ones like they would have liked. Still I hope you had a blessed Christmas in spite of the turmoil our world is in.

Our community was saddened to learn of the death of Richard Spangler last week. He was a prominent figure in our community having been part of the fire department in Glasgow and most recently of the Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. He could be seen around town on his lawnmower as he went about keeping folks’ lawns looking great. Even with health issues he just kept going and going. Our hearts go out to his mother, Mary Alice Spangler and the many friends he left behind. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Glasgow Cemetery. Masks required.

The Glasgow Fire Department met in December and elected the following officers for the coming year: John Hill, chief; Junior Snead, president; Devin Nicely, vice president; John Ellington, treasurer; Melissa Waldron, secretary; and Jason Duff, chaplain. Adrian Watts and Jason Duff were appointed atlarge members for the board of control.
