Local author Mary Jo Doig will be speaking at the Rockbridge Regional Library on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m.

She will discuss her memoir “Patchwork” and the experiences that led her to write about her life.

Doig is an English major who devoted her career to varied human services work including as pharmacy coordinator at the Rockbridge Area Health Center, where after a few years, she became a dental coordinator and established a small volunteer dental program that has since grown into a large Medicaid program.

Doig retired to Albemarle County where she continues to help others through the Story Circle Network, an organization devoted to women with stories to tell.

She will return to the Rockbridge Regional Library again in September for a set of writing workshops for women.
