The Collierstown United Methodist Church will have a spaghetti supper on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The all-you-caneat meal will include salad, spaghetti and dessert, along with assorted beverages. Patrons are invited to dine in or take out. Orders for take-out meals may be placed beginning at 4:30 p.m. by calling (540) 463-7717. Cost for the meal is by donation only.

Sunday, Jan. 15, was Blanket Sunday at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church! Each year the Presbyterian Women partner with Church World Service to purchase and distribute blankets to needy individuals and families in the United States and around the world. This year the CPC Women had as their goal the purchase of 130 blankets at a cost of $10 each. Funds were collected for the purchase of 143 blankets, 13 more than the goal for this year! The 2023 campaign has been extended for one more week with the dream of donating even more blankets! The community is invited to join in this project by making a monetary donation or by gifting a friend with a contribution to Church World Service’s Blanket program. Gifts should be designated for Blanket Sunday and mailed to the Collierstown Presbyterian Church, 31 Church Drive, Lexington, VA 24450 or dropped off at the church by Sunday, Jan. 23. This year the need is even greater. For more information, call Debbie Mc-Cormick at (540) 460-1325.

The Rev. Bronwen Boswell, General Presbyter and Stated Clerk of Shenandoah Presbytery, led the Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday. She also ordained and installed elders elected to the class of 2025. Those serving in the class of 2025 are Gay Lea Goodbar, Joan Potter, and Jeanne Staton. A reception for the new elders and an opportunity to meet with the Rev. Boswell was held following the worship service.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Women will hold their winter meeting on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. All women in the church family are invited to attend this program and planning meeting for 2023. Officers for the new year will be elected and financial support to the organization’s ministries will be discussed and appropriated.

The Effinger Ruritan Club’s Community Birthday Calendars have been received and distributed by club members. Patrons who may not have received their calendars should call club president Chris Cartwright (540) 461-0113 to arrange delivery.
