Winning TD

Shenandoah University sophomore Ben Rhodenizer, a 2018 Rockbridge County High School graduate, threw the winning touchdown pass to lift the Hornets to a 21-17 win at Hampden-Sydney on Saturday. With 9:08 left in the game, Rhodenizer made a 10-yard TD pass to Casey Stewart, tossing the ball into the right corner of the end zone.

Shenandoah improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and Hampden-Sydney fell to 1-5 overall and 0-5 in the ODAC.

At RC, Rhodenizer threw for 3,234 yards during this senior season, and was named the Valley District offensive player of the year and was selected to the all-district team.

W&L Men No. 1

The Washington and Lee University men’s soccer received the No. 1 spot in the power rankings, announced last Thursday. The Generals earned the honor after defeating Lynchburg 4-0 last Wednesday in Lexington for their 10th consecutive win. The winning streak was stopped when W&L lost to Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 on Saturday.

The Generals ended the week at 10-2-2 overall, with a 4-1 mark in the ODAC.
