Cline Votes Against Impeachment

Congressman Ben Cline Wednesday, like the majority of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, voted against the article of impeachment against President Trump.

The House voted 232-197 to impeach Trump on a charge of “incitement of insurrection” over the attack on the Capitol Jan. 6. Ten Republicans voted for impeachment.

On Tuesday, Cline had released the following statement about the impeachment effort.

“Attempts to impeach the president in his final 8 days in office will only further fuel the political divide among our citizens and will be detrimental to long-term efforts to unify our country. Both President Trump and President-Elect Biden have called for a peaceful transition of power, so I would urge Speaker Pelosi to reconsider pursuing Articles of Impeachment. Now is a time to get back to work addressing the issues most important to the American people,” Cline said.
