On Sunday, Sept. 11, Burnett Brown Sensabaugh Jr. passed away in his sleep at the age of 93.

He is fondly remembered by his loving wife Nancy Lee Sensabaugh, his daughter Patricia and her husband Todd Wohler, his daughter Ella and her husband Gary Flory, and his son Cordell Sensabaugh and his wife Donna. "Pop" is also remembered by his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with two more on the way!), one of whom is named after him.

Burnett and Nancy met at a barn dance and were blessed with 65 years of marriage.  He proudly lived in RockbridgeCounty. Burnett farmed full time into his 70s and enjoyed his 23 years as a RockbridgeCounty school bus driver. He was a faithful member of BethanyLutheranChurch and served on the Church Council and as the Sunday school superintendent. Later he and Nancy became members of New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, where he shared his musical talent by singing in the church choir and playing bass fiddle on Music Sundays. Burnett treasured the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper and often recited Psalm 23 in his prayers.

Some highlights from Burnett's life include playing the bass fiddle in a string band. He and Nancy ushered in the twenty-first century watching fireworks over the Champs-Élysées in Paris, France, and he enthusiastically attended Virginia Tech home football games and VMI basketball games with family and friends. Above all, Burnett supported his loved ones in all their endeavors.

Burial will be 1 p.m. at NewMonmouthPresbyterianCemetery and celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Casey Clark officiating.  A reception will follow at the church's social hall.
