Friday, April 9 – The Parry McCluer High School football team concluded a season of great progress with a 28-8 loss at Narrows in the Region 1C semifinals on Friday night.

The third-seeded Fighting Blues (4-3), who had won four consecutive games, were the first team to score on the second-seeded Green Wave (7-0) this season when they took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. PM scored when quarterback Ty Ruley made a 77-yard pass to Jalen Mitchell, and John Snider ran in for a two-point conversion. It was the closest game for Narrows, the Pioneer District champion, this season.

When the teams met in the Blues’ opener on March 1 in Buena Vista, Narrows cruised to a 32-0 win.

Narrows will play either Galax in next week’s Region 1C championship game.

After dropping their first two games, the Blues improved throughout the season and finished with a district record of 3-2.

The Blues will graduate eight seniors: Nick Reid, Ty Ruley, J.B. Wade, Keaton Coleman, Omar Massenberg, Aaron Plogger, Forrest Vassar and Zavery Wallace.
