Barbara Vaughan, 86, of Lexington went to be with the Lord on Dec. 23, 2019.

She was born in Charleston, W.Va., in 1933. After graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1951, she was employed by Leavitt’s Funeral Home in Parkersburg, W.Va., until 1956. In 1956 she married Frederick C. Vaughan Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frederick C. Vaughan Sr. She also is survived by three children, Vicki (John) Nachman of Mechanicsville, Frederick C. (Tammie) Vaughan Jr. of Clifton Forge, and Dr. David (Jill) Vaughan of Finksburg, Md.; seven grandchildren that enriched her life, Rachel, Jacob, Rebecca, Lucas, Benjamin, Eric and Abby; as well as two great-grandchildren, Emory and Evelynne.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Vaughan.

She shared her creativity and love of crafts with family, friends and many customers at Family Crafts in Seabrook, Md. Her love of animals brought several adopted dogs and cats into her life.

She was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, where she served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and worked on several committees.

A memorial service will be held at Manly Memorial Baptist Church on Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. Dr. J. Michael Wilkins and Dr. Thomas G. Harvey will officiate.

A family only committal service will be held at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery in Lexington.

Say not in grief “she is no more,” but live in thankfulness that she was.
