Ambulance Involved In Accident On Interstate 81

May 22 - Lexington Fire Department personnel were unharmed after an LFD ambulance was struck by a tractor-trailer Thursday evening.

               The Lexington Fire ambulance was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 81 near mile marker 195 around 6 p.m. while responding to an accident on the interstate. During the incident, the ambulance and a tractor-trailer hauling chicks both went off of the road before coming to a stop.

               Two LFD personnel were transported to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital for evaluation. Lexington Fire reported the two workers were later released and able to go home unharmed after the incident.

               “Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped us tonight and all of your offers of help and concern,” Lexington Fire said in a statement shared to Facebook Thursday night.
