‘Infanticide’ Word Use Defended

Oct. 7, 2019 Editor, The News-Gazette:

In response to Debbie Pollard’s assertion that I used the term infanticide as a “inflammatory word” in my prior letter to the editor, I beg to differ.

Black’s Law Dictionary states infanticide is “The murder or killing of an infant soon after its birth.” That definition is exactly what Del. Kathy Tran, (D) 42 House of Delegates District, admitted her legislation would allow, regardless of the infant’s health condition at birth. Moreover, infanticide is exactly what would happen as described by Governor Northram when he attempted to explain away Tran’s legislation to the media shortly afterward. The intent and desired result of this legislation is as plain as the legal definition.
