Brenda “Bird” Ford of Buena Vista was inducted into the Virginia United States Specialty Sports Association Softball Hall of Fame on Saturday night in Petersburg. One of the best seasons in Washington and Lee University basketball history came to a premature end, as both of the Generals’ squads were toppled in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament in Salem.
As a reward for being the top fundraiser for the annual Swim-A-Thon that sponsors swimmers for the youth club swimming team, the Rockbridge STORM, Rockbridge County High School freshman Ali Pfaff shaves the head of Morgan Richter, the co-head coach of the RCHS swimming teams. Rockbridge County High School wrestler Seth Youngblood won his first state championship on Saturday, leading the Wildcats to a seventh-place finish at the Class 3 state tournament at the Salem Civic Center.
