Showing improvement in the second week of the season, the Parry McCluer High School volleyball team challenged Pioneer District rivals Bath County and Craig County last week, but the Fighting Blues came up short both times.
After leading the Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team to its first state championship in program history last month, head coach Mike Cartolaro was named the Virginia High School Coaches Association Class 1 state coach of the year. PM junior forward Spencer Hamilton was selected as the VHSCA Class 1 state player of the year.
In their first away meet this season, the Rockbridge County High School girls and boys cross country teams both placed second last Wednesday at East Rockingham.
Saturday, March 13 - The Parry McCluer High School football team earned its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon, capturing a 52-34 road victory over Pioneer District rival Covington at Casey Field.
Friday, March 12 - Led by Bret McClung's four first-half touchdowns, the Rockbridge County High School football team earned a 38-6 road win over Waynesboro on Friday night.
Thursday, March 11 – The Rockbridge County High School volleyball team improved to 5-0 by cruising to a 3-0 win over Broadway in Valley District action on Thursday night in Lexington.
Led by strong defense and quarterback Miller Jay’s three touchdown passes, the Rockbridge County High School football team earned a 38-6 road win over Valley District rival Spotswood on Friday night.
