Locals took part in the Glen Maury Park 5-kilometer trail run and 1.5-mile fun run/walk on Friday evening. The event was part of the Glen Maury Park Outdoor Series. Participants started and finished at the Glen Maury Park double-decker pavilion, with staggered start times to prevent the large gathering of people at the start and finish. The Rockbridge County High School boys tennis team dropped a pair of Valley District matches last week before bouncing back with an 8-1 home win against Broadway on Friday.
The Parry McCluer High School track and field teams started off the season well against Pioneer District competition last Wednesday at Eastern Montgomery, with the boys wining three events and two girls finishing second. Team scores were not kept.
