Saturday, Dec. 18 -- Parry McCluer High School's Jaden Baker Tournament wrapped up with two more tight games, as the Fighting Blues slipped past Riverheads 46-43 and Northside dealt Rockbridge County a 48-44 defeat in girls basketball action in Buena Vista.
Led by Spencer Hamilton’s career-high 39 points to go along with 13 rebounds and 10 blocks, the Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team opened the season by defeating rival Rockbridge County 68-45 on Friday night in Lexington.
In the first local rivalry game of the season, the Parry Mc- Cluer High School girls basketball team coasted to a 54-21 road win over Rockbridge County on Friday night in Lexington.
Parry McCluer High School siblings Kovyk and Koya Chandler both qualified for the state meet in their first meet of the indoor track and field season on Saturday afternoon at Virginia Military Institute’s Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.
The Rockbridge County High School wrestling team placed seventh of 14 teams and had two individual champions at the 48th annual Harrisonburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Harrisonburg High School.
