Nov. 7, 2022 Editor, The News-Gazette: The Rockbridge Regional Library governing board of Trustees engaged in a most confounding pattern of behavior these past months while questing its closing of the Goshen Library. In August, they asserted that their decision to close Goshen was final, but over substantial public objection, they reframed their position by adding additional argument to the “list of reasons” summarized in a letter to the Lexington Woman’s Club. The number one reason was that the Goshen facility (Harris building) was “in the flood plain.”

Oct. 31, 2022 Editor, The News-Gazette: Last Thursday night, while driving home from work, one of my front tires blew out. Checking it to see that the tire was still on the rim, and realizing that I was only 1 ½ miles from home, I figured I could make it home if I drove very slowly, where I would then deal with the issue. Upon turning onto the street of my subdivision, I saw a dark car with flashing blue lights now behind me.
Nov. 7, 2022 Editor, The News-Gazette: On Friday afternoon at about 4:55 on Nov. 4 it dawned on me that I was leaving town and wouldn’t be back until Wednesday. That would mean I would miss voting!
The Buena Vista Rescue Squad is in need of help. In the midst of its annual fundraising campaign, the BVRS is asking local citizens to step up and make contributions so as to help defray the costs of providing vital services for Buena Vista and the surrounding area. The BVRS also needs additional help from local governments to fund the salaries of an adequate number of paid rescue squad service providers.
I had been hearing from so many of my friends that “Derry Girls” on Netflix was a show that I would fall in love with. With its third – and final – season available through the streaming service, I finally gave it a look last weekend. I binged all three seasons in a week, which was easy to do as each season has just half a dozen regular episodes. And I adored every minute.
