Planting trees may not be foremost in our minds in late January but now is the time to make plans to do so and, in the case of bare-root seedlings, the period of winter dormancy is a good time to plant. Good landscape plants can increase property value, save energy, and provide privacy and beauty around your home. On the farm, there is a wide range of planting strategies that, in a relatively short span of years, can enhance a grazing or cropping system, keep livestock cool in summer, and improve water retention on the farm.
