‘Tis the season for local governments to formulate budgets for the next fiscal year, and Rockbridge area jurisdictions are feeling the pinch from the pandemic. A precipitous drop in state aid as well as falling sales, meals and lodging tax revenues has localities scrambling to fill in budgetary gaps.
I suppose the question on everyone’s mind these days is when is this all going to end? No one knows the answer to that question and I try not to ponder it too frequently.
Glenn DuBois, the chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges, named a new statewide task force Friday to examine and propose changes in how community colleges operate to meet the needs of Virginia students and businesses in a post-pandemic “new normal.”
