A new tick, the Asian Longhorn tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis), has quickly spread through the region and impacted a few cattle herds in Rockbridge last year.
‘Tis the season for local governments to formulate budgets for the next fiscal year, and Rockbridge area jurisdictions are feeling the pinch from the pandemic. A precipitous drop in state aid as well as falling sales, meals and lodging tax revenues has localities scrambling to fill in budgetary gaps.
I suppose the question on everyone’s mind these days is when is this all going to end? No one knows the answer to that question and I try not to ponder it too frequently.
