March 5, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: This is in reply to Beth Houser’s letter “Fascism Has No Place In Our Country” published Feb. 14: Like the fake news mainstream media and face reconstructed history as well as the history being taught to our precious children in our government- run indoctrination camps more commonly known as public “school,” she repeated the lie that three people died at the socalled “White Nationalist Rally” in Charlottesville. The two state troopers that she and the mainstream fake news media repeatedly say died at the rally is a proven lie. The two state troopers died after the event when their helicopter had mechanical failure and crashed over Albemarle County and were not murdered as she said.
March 6, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: I am a retired Air Force pilot who flew in the Vietnam airlift, Grenada, Desert Storm and the Faulkland War. I love my country, and the people in it, regardless of their background, financial status, skin color, religious beliefs or sexual orientation. I abhor modern politics, and declare myself a moderate independent! Choices this year are alarmingly poor!
March 8, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: ME: I am sure that the best candidate for president is me. It will be my platform “to secure the Blessings of Liberty” to myself and my posterity. After all, this is the last line in the preamble to the Constitution of the United States, is it not?

Shannon. The library was previously named for the university’s first president, Edwin Alderman.

Feb. 22, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: I’m writing to let you know that I recently called the Staunton office of Congressman Ben Cline at (540) 885-3861. I spoke to a nice lady about the situation in Ukraine and about my belief that our Congress and our congressman are not doing enough to provide aid and military supplies to the Ukrainians.
March 4, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: I absolutely stand firm on the opportunity to bring a small general aviation airport to the county. I live locally and work as a flight instructor and commercial pilot in the region. I have first-hand experience on how even a small airport can positively impact the community and present opportunities our county can’t experience without one. These airports are invaluable assets to communities, fostering local economies, connectivity, and community involvement.
