On Feb. 8, more than 130 people gathered for the second annual Choral Singalong at Grace Episcopal Church. The intergenerational event included singers and instrumentalists from Southern Virginia University, Washington and Lee University, the region, and from across the commonwealth and the District of Columbia. Soloists included Karin Allred, Joanna Armstrong, Susan Sevier, and Jessica Simpson. Conductors were Lacey Lynch, Shane Lynch (both of whom can be seen in bottom photo), Kyle Nielsen (seen in top photo) and Martha Burford. The event this year was co-sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church and the Buena Vista Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Tina Himes of SVU devoted great organizational skills and help. Burford, primary organizer of the event, commented, “People came together for four and a half hours to sing with strangers and friends, raised their voices, and left having found new friendships forged in the harmonies lifted.”
