The family of Samuel Lee Mays (Porky), would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our family and friends, and business associates in the communities of Buena Vista, Lexington, Rockbridge County and in and out of the state of Virginia for the out pouring of love and support as we mourn his loss.
The Effinger Ruritan Club would like to thank all the volunteers, as well as the club’s members, who assisted with the community roadside cleanup held on Saturday, March 20, and on March 27. The gift of time and the work done in removing trash and debris was greatly appreciated. The community is asked to make this an ongoing project by keeping our roadsides litter-free in the weeks ahead.

Lancaster Community College is hosting a two-day drone class at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista on Monday and Tuesday, April 12 and 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course is intended mainly for fire, EMS, and law enforcement, but is open to anyone 18 years of age or older.
