Wearing masks – and sometimes buying masks – a large crowd turned out for the holiday market of the Lexington Farmers Market last Wednesday – held outdoors this year because of the pandemic. The weekly farmers market will continue to be held in the McCrums parking lot, weather permitting, throughout the winter, with pre-orders encouraged. The times will change from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and next Wednesday to from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting in January. The market will take the week off on Dec. 30. Since their students can’t be in the classroom with them this month or participate in their annual holiday program, the teachers, staff and principal at Mountain View Elementary decorated the outside of the school and invited the school’s families to a drive-thru event Friday event dubbed “Long Hollow Lights.” Snow machines dropped snow from the roof while teachers and staff dressed up in a variety of costumes to greet the students and hand out stockings, filled with a hat or pair of gloves, candy, popcorn, hot chocolate packs and – appropriately for this year – a roll of toilet paper.
