A class of fifth-graders at Natural Bridge Elementary School, including Reagan Coleman who’s shown here, used their knowledge of area and perimeter to design a home for a fictitious character. They used a program called Tinkercad to design their houses. These can actually be 3D printed as well, according to Principal Rick Bain. “This is one of the first times we have used this program in the classroom,” he said. “The students have tackled one other project with it, but most of what they have learned has come because of their own interests. The students have really driven this activity. They really took a big interest in this project and took it to a higher level.”
