Items Needed For Benefit Auction

  • Written by submitted

Doris Sibold is organizing an auction and cakewalk at the Kerrs Creek Fire Department on July 26 for Michael Rhodenizer who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 malignant melanoma. The auction begins at 10 a.m. and the cakewalk starts at 7.

Michael Rhodenizer is the son of Kenny and Doris Rhodenizer of Kerrs Creek. He graduated from Rockbridge County High School in 2000, and is the owner of Devil’s Kitchen BBQ. He is an avid hunter and helps with classes at High Country Outfitters.

The type of cancer Rhodenizer has does not respond to chemotherapy; instead he had two cycles of immunotherapy at the University of Virginia Hospital. Each immunotherapy cycle lasted about four to five days. He was given intravenous medication to support his body’s immune system in fighting off the cancer. He is responding to the treatments, a spokeswoman said.

Donations are needed for the auction. Call Sibold at 463-1914 or 570-1915 for more information.
