Anthony Thompson, 52, of Buena Vista died Monday, July 1, 2014, in Buena Vista.

He was born July 15, 1961, in Staunton, the son of the late Willie and Ruby Thompson.

He was employed at Ocala Gas Company in Ocala, Fla., Anton Trucking in Goshen, Luck Stone Trucking, Moffett Paving and Excavating in Staunton, and Meade Trucking Company in Verona.

He was a member of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department and Goshen Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and driving his 1977 black Trans Am.

He is survived by his four sisters, Shirley Craft and husband John of Staunton, Sandra Heizer of Greenville, "Willie" Frances Watkins and husband Tom of Roanoke, and Betty Gail Hudson of Ocala, Fla.; eight nephews and five nieces; and close friend and caregiver Debbie Fitzgerald.

He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Robert Hudson and Harold Heizer.

A funeral service will be conducted at Craigsville Funeral home at 2 p.m., July 5, with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. Interment will be in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Fire Department.
