Wildcats Pull Away From Blues In Boys Hoops, 39-31

Saturday, Jan. 5 -- The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball team pulled away from a 29-29 tie to defeat Parry McCluer 39-31 on Saturday in Buena Vista.

Alex Balisteri led the Wildcats (8-5) with 16 points, hitting a key 3-pointer and several free throws late to help RC break away. Jailik Lynch added nine points for the Wildcats, and Caleb Walker chipped in seven.

Brant Adams led the Blues (7-3) with 12 points and three rebounds, while Will Dunlap and Josh Chapman each chipped in six points.

With the win, the Wildcats completed a sweep of the season series with the Blues. When the two teams met on Dec. 20 at RC, the Wildcats won 48-43.

The Blues will play host to Pioneer District rival Bath County on Monday, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m. RC will travel to face Valley District foe Turner Ashby on Tuesday, starting with the JV game at 6 p.m.
