Walker Scores Career-High 26 To Lead RC Boys To Regional Quarterfinal Win

Friday, Feb. 15 – The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball team pulled off a 59-56 upset win at Western Albemarle in the Region 3C quarterfinals on Friday night.

Senior Caleb Walker led the seventh-seeded Wildcats (14-10) with a career-high 26 points, sinking six 3-pointers and making all four of his free throw attempts, including two in the final 30 seconds. Jailik Lynch added 14 points, making four 3-pointers, and 10 assists. The second-seeded Warriors (14-11) had a chance to take a final shot to tie the game with 2.2 seconds left, but Lynch stole the inbounds pass. Elijah Rogers scored nine points and pulled down nine rebounds, and Harrison Hundley had eight points and two blocks. The Wildcats shot 50 percent from three-point range, making 11 total threes.

Gabe Nafziger led Western Albemarle with 18 points, sinking three 3-pointers, and Riley Prichard added 15 points. The Warriors made six 3-pointers.

The Wildcats will advance to the regional semifinals, which will take place at third-seeded Heritage on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
