Ray Daniel McFaddin of Natural Bridge died Feb. 23


Ray Daniel McFaddin, born Oct. 14, 1929, in Lexington, went to be with the Lord Feb. 23, 2018, from his home at Natural Bridge.

Ray worked at James Lee Carpet in Glasgow for 25 years and then went on the road as a truck driver for 19 years.  He had many interesting stories to share about life as a truck driver.  He loved camping and boating after retirement.  He was a member of Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship and was known as the "popcorn man."

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Preston, and Ada Palmer McFaddin; six brothers and sisters, Guy and Hunter McFaddin of Lexington, Agnes Deacon and Virginia Conner of Lexington, Catherine Wiseman of Roanoke, and Marie Wiginton of Iron Gate.

Survived by wife of 68 years, Berndette Posey McFaddin; two daughters, Erlin Karr of Roanoke, and Sandra Fix and Jim; two sons, Ray Daniel Jr. and fiancé Debbie Cooper, and Ronald Preston and wife Leigh; 10 grandchildren; and 21great grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship with Rev. W. David Bain and Rev. Wes Galford officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. 

Family will receive friends for one hour prior to funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship, 21 Gilmores Mill Road, Natural Bridge Station, and Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA, 24450.

The family would like to thank Rockbridge Area Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of our father in his last days at home.
