Mary “Peggy” George Wilhelm, 83, of Roanoke died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Friendship Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 13, 1935, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Clarence George and Geneva Simpson George.

Peggy was a member of Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church, and was a longtime secretary at Sigma Nu headquarters. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of walks and time at the pool, and dedication to her family and church.

Survivors include her granddaughter Erin Dyer, grandson Daniel Mutispaugh, daughter Mary Beth Butler, and brothers Freddie and Butch Pasternick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Preston Wilhelm and her daughter Alison Mutispaugh.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Benjamin Dowling III officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to Lauderdale ARP Church, 300 S. Main St., Lexington, VA 24450.

Family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
