Lillian Barnes Toombs, age 81, formerly of Buena Vista, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, in her Staunton home.

Lillian Barnes Toombs, age 81, formerly of Buena Vista, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, in her Staunton home.

She was born in Clover on Nov. 21, 1935, the daughter of the late John Lee Barnes and Kate Lily Barnes.

She was the widow of the late James Samuel Toombs, the former pastor of Belle Cove Chapel.

Surviving her are her three daughters, Deborah Day, Donna Conner and Angela Friend; two sons, James Edwin Toombs and Charles Samuel Toombs; one sister, Joyce Brooks of South Hill; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Calvary Brethren Church in Buena Vista by Pastor Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to her beloved church family at Calvary Brethren Church. Her dedication to her faith was inspirational, and she will always be cherished as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
