John C. Cline, 93, of Buena Vista died Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab Center.

John Campbell “J.C.” Cline, 93, of Buena Vista passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2017.

He was born on Feb. 29, 1924, in Rockbridge County to the late John Carl and Nora Kirby Cline.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise and Aileen; brother, Frank Cline; and son-in-law, Mike Green.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Agnes; sister, Hyacinth Sensabaugh; and four children, Delores Ward and husband Gary, Sandra Moore and husband Charlie, Patty Green, and John “Buddy” Cline Jr. and wife Jane.  He has eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

J.C. loved spending time with his family on South River having cookouts and enjoying the peaceful sounds. He loved listening to bluegrass music, was an avid horseman, wheeler-dealer, and made a mean fruit salad at Christmastime.

J.C. served time in the Army as a military policeman and was stationed at Fort Dix, N.J., in 1946 and 1947. He received a World War II Victory Medal for his service.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab for their care and compassion over the past few weeks.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
