James Curtis Brads, 76, of Lexington died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 30, 1941, in Goshen, he was a son of the late Raymond Tolbert Brads and Margaret Elizabeth Hinkle Brads.

Mr. Brads retired from city of Lexington with over 27 years of service.  James enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Surviving are his children, James Arlington Brads, Robert Allen Brads and fiance Patsy Camden, Melinda Joyce Hughes and fiance Derek Mains, and John Elden Brads; brothers, John Tolbert Brads and Jesse Velvet Brads; sister, Kathleen Clark; significant other,  Barbara Hinkle; and niece Lori Dorey. Also two grandchildren, Shane and Christina Staton; and ex-wife Judy Camden.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Jonathan Brads officiating.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
