Hazel O’Conner Mays, 93, of Lexington died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 29, 1923, in Springwood, a daughter of the late Forrest O’Conner and Ethel Elizabeth Reynolds O’Conner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Junior Mays. 

Mrs. Mays was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Hazel worked as school crossing guard for the Lexington City School System for many years. 

Surviving are her two daughters, Suzanne M. Entsminger and Charlotte M. Smith; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Harrison Funeral Home by Dr. J. Michael Wilkins. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
