Dawn Ayres Burch, 71, of Buena Vista, who was affectionately known as “Don Don” to those that loved her, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Augusta Health.

Dawn Ayres Burch, 71, of Buena Vista, who was affectionately known as “Don Don” to those that loved her, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Augusta Health.

She was born in Buena Vista on April 9, 1946, a daughter of the late Harry Douglas Ayres and Cynthia Effie Ramsey Ayres. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas and Daniel Ayres; sister, Norma Ayres Staton; great-nephew, Michael Dean Gilliam; stepson, Scott Arie Burch; brothers-in-law, Matthew Morris Bryant and Gary Allen; and sister-in-law, Juanda Ayres.

Dawn retired from CVS in Buena Vista and she had also spent many years as a florist. She was a devoted wife and loved her family. She especially loved spoiling all the children.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Larry Wayne Burch; stepson, Chris Burch and wife, Betsy; sister, Wanda Bryant; brother, Ronnie Ayres; brothers-in-law, Houston Staton Jr., Lewis W. Burch Jr. and wife, Lek; sisters-in-law, Teresa Ayres, Carol Faye Burch; grandchildren, Caid and Levi Burch; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Karen Coffey and Kay Ayres.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Rockbridge Area Hospice.

A Celebration of Life was held Wednesday, July 19, at Victory Baptist Church, Buena Vista, with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating.

Arrangements were by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford.
