The News-Gazette

Friday, Sept. 21 – Austin Moore ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, and the Parry McCluer High School football team cruised to its first victory of the season, defeating Nelson County 52-6 on Friday night in Lovingston.

PM’s defense looked resurgent Friday, stifling Nelson County's spread offense and intercepting two passes, one of which Lance Fitzgerald returned for a touchdown.

At the same time, Marcellius Dawson topped the 200-yard rushing mark on offense, scoring three touchdowns to lead the rout. Moore also scored a rushing TD, and Keaton Coleman put the finishing touches on the romp with his first career TD in the fourth quarter.

PM improved to 1-3, as the Governors fell to 1-4. The Blues will return to action next Friday at William Campbell at 7 p.m.
