Blues Fall To Holston In Regional Softball Semifinals

Wednesday, May 31 – The Parry McCluer High School softball team’s playoff run came to an end with a 1-0 loss in nine innings to Holston in the Group 1A Region West semifinals on Wednesday at Emory & Henry College.

Holston moved on to Thursday’s championship game and will face Patrick Henry-Glade Spring, which defeated Auburn 2-0 in Wednesday's other semifinal. The Fighting Blues finished the season with a record of 18-5 overall, going 8-0 in the Pioneer District. The Blues, who won last two Group 1A state championships,  were the runners-up to Auburn in the Conference 45 championship this year.

PM had advanced to the regional semifinals by winning at Chilhowie 2-0 in the quarterfinals on Monday. Holston had beaten Eastside 4-1 in the quarterfinals.

The Blues will miss their eight seniors: Kelsi Martin, who has signed to play softball for Eastern Mennonite University, along with Carrington Balser, Allison Clark, Iesha and Kiesha Jackson, Hunter Martin, Hannah Pruett and Cierra Staton.
