Athletic Schedule Changes Due To Hurricane Florence

Wednesday, Sept. 12 – Due to potential heavy rainfall as a result of Hurricane Florence, several upcoming athletic events have been rescheduled or canceled.

For Rockbridge County High School, the varsity football game at Lord Botetourt has been moved up from Friday to Thursday night at 6, and the junior varsity team’s home game against LB has been moved from this Thursday to Thursday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. The volleyball team’s tournament scheduled for this weekend in Virginia Beach has been canceled and will not be made up. For the golf team, the Valley District tournament has been moved from Monday to Thursday, Sept. 20, at 9 a.m. at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg. The cheerleading competition that was scheduled for this Saturday at Robert E. Lee High School has been canceled.

For Parry McCluer High School, the volleyball team’s home match against Covington has been moved from Thursday night to Saturday, Oct. 13.

In college football action, VMI’s home game against East Tennessee State has been moved up from Saturday to Friday at 2:30 p.m. Washington and Lee’s home football game against Maryville, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled.
